Award-winning books & Recommended Lists

The lists at the bottom of the page show you which award-winning books are available at the Rohrbach Library for some of the most popular national awards.

The American Library Association website contains the lists for all of their ALA Book, Print & Media Awards. You can also find information about the awards and what they are for at the ALSC website.

Other awards:

  • Dolly Gray Award: "The Dolly Gray Children’s Literature Award was initiated in 2000 to recognize authors, illustrators, and publishers of high quality fictional and biographical children, intermediate, and young adult books that appropriately portray individuals with developmental disabilities."
  • Schneider Family Book Awards: "The Schneider Family Book Awards honor an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences."
  • Stonewall Book Awards, This award is sponsored by the American Library Association's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table. It honors books that show "exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience."
  • Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards: Every Child a Reader creates and supports programs that strive to make the reading and enjoyment of children’s books an essential part of America’s educational and social aims. The Children's & Teen Choice Book Awards is one of their cornerstone programs, and it is the only national book awards program where the winners are selected by kids and teens of all ages.
