WRI 216 - Writing for Public Relations: Home

Guide for WRI 216 students searching for company/nonprofit organization information.

Tools

The staff on every floor of Rohrbach Library welcomes your questions.

A reference librarian is in the Information Commons area near the entrance at all hours (except the final two, on nights when Rohrbach is open till midnight).  You can call the reference librarian at 610-683-4165 and you can email or text us your questions as well.

Guides to using our major databases are also available; if you are curious about how to save or email your results from EBSCO, for example, you can quickly find that here.

Getting Started

As you begin your research it may be helpful to note the following, as information becomes available:

If the company you are researching is publicly or privately held;

If the company you are researching is a parent company or a subsidiary;

Your company's ticker symbol, if available;

SIC and/or NAICS codes for appropriate industries

If your company is publicly held, the best places to start are at a Marketline (formerly Datamonitor) Report or LexisNexis Company Dossier.
