Essential Responsibilities: The User Experience Librarian will:

  1. Oversee User Experience for the Rohrbach Library
  1.  Coordinate user-centered services and user engagement initiatives.
    1. Design and deploy user experience (UX) studies and approaches.
    2. Stay engaged with the library UX community and developments in the field.
    3. Develop guidelines to ensure a uniform user experience in the library and online.
  2.  Provide Library Services with an increased focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB.)
    1. Lead library efforts to promote DEIB among Kutztown University students with carefully curated resources that impart accurate non-biased information.
    2. The User Experience Librarian will represent the Library in DEIB efforts on university committees and set an example of best practices for library DEIB services within PASSHE and the region.
    3. Collaborate with the other librarians in planning and organizing programming, developing displays, and selecting library resources to ensure that they represent DEIB best practices.
    4. Participate on DEIB-related advisory boards (such as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program) to aid in providing library resources needed by professors for programs or courses.
  3. Coordinate assessment efforts related to user experience and DEIB.
  4. Maintain the Rohrbach Library website content and design.
  1. Liaison to academic departments
  1. Communicate with assigned academic departments regarding collection development
    1. Confirm department liaisons for assigned academic departments.
    2. Recommend relevant resources to the department liaisons.
    3. Order materials that best serve a well-rounded academic collection in accordance with the Rohrbach Library Collection Development Policy.
    4. Apprise department liaisons of the academic department materials budget allocation and deadlines for ordering materials.
    5. Notify department liaisons about changes in library policies and procedures that impact users.
    6. Publicize and promote electronic resources and other library materials that are applicable to assigned academic departments.
  2. Strategize with Collection Management Librarian regarding resource selection and budget allocations.
  3. Pursue the goals detailed in the Rohrbach Library Liaison Program
  4. Maintain curricular knowledge and subject expertise for assigned academic departments.
  1. Information Literacy Instruction
  1. Provide information literacy instruction to students and faculty.
  2. Communicate with faculty regarding instruction requests.
  3. Create and maintain LibGuides or other materials for IL instruction as needed.
  4. Create plans or goals for IL instruction.
  1. Research Services
  1.  Provide research service as assigned.
  2. Offer assistance to all patrons in making effective use of the library's collections, facilities, and services.
  3. Maintain current knowledge of library resources.
  1. Assessment
  1. Collect and report statistical data for assessment purposes.
  2. Prepare annual, narrative and statistical reports as requested by the Director of Library Services
  3. Participate in assessment projects.
  1. Other
  1. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  2. Communicate and partner with campus offices and groups.
  3.  Pursue scholarly growth activities.
  4. Provide service to the Department, the University, and the Community.
  5. Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services.
