Some information on Citations

When looking for citation information in the library databases, look for a button or icon with the word CITE or the image of Quotation Marks. "

EBSCO uses quote marks, but you need to be on the page that is about that article:

 

 

 

ProQuest also uses quote marks on the Result List and on the article pages

Citation Builders

MyBib

  • Builds citations in APA and MLA.  Great to use if you have an unusual format to cite like and interview or website.
  • Designed for student users.
  • Free and there is an app available in both Google and Apple stores.
 SCRIBBR.
  • The citation generator is free, the plaigiarism checker is not.
  • Covers MLA, APA, Chicago, and CSE (both formats)
  • Plug in the website URL and SCRIBBR will go out, get the info and generate the citation.

Purdue OWL with APA and MLA

The Purdue OWL is the authorized online source for both the MLA and APA format.  The Purdue OWL does NOT generate citations, but it tells you what elements, punctuation and appearance each piece of the citation should have, and gives you examples.

Purdue OWL MLA

  • Begin on the Works Cited Page, Basic Format
  • In the menu on the left, the format for webpages and other internet sources is under Electronic Resources
  • When building citations for online articles, add the DOI (if available, precede it with "https://doi.org/"), otherwise a URL (without the https://) or the permalink.
  • Date you accessed the material (Date Accessed), can go at the end of the citation, but are not required.  While not required, saving this information it is highly recommended, especially when dealing with pages that change frequently or do not have a visible copyright date.

  • In the menu on the left, the format for
  • When making citations for Articles, either print or electronic, use the DOI if there is one available.  For older articles and ones without a DOI, use the Permalink/URL.
