The Archives and Digital Initiatives Office in RL 203 supports faculty teaching, research, and preservation needs. You and your classes are invited to explore and research using the primary sources in the University Archives. The librarian can also assist with converting obsolete formats like VHS tapes or audiocassettes into digital versions.

The primary resource in Digital Initiatives is the KU Research Commons (KURC), the university’s open-access institutional repository for faculty and student scholarship, including journals, articles, exhibitions, conference presentations, and research projects. In its eight years of operation, the KURC has logged over 1.8 million downloads of KU research from across the world. The platform also hosts scholarly journals. Editors seeking an open-access publishing platform are encouraged to collaborate with the library; as a CrossRef member, the library can also manage DOIs for hosted journals.
If you are organizing a campus conference, the KURC can also serve as an open-access site for your conference information, submissions, and proceedings.
