SPA 325: Finding Books

Resources for Professor Rauch's SPA 325 class, Spring 2011

Using the library catalog

Search for books in the library's online catalog.

You'll find many different types of resources in the library catalog:  books, links to electronic books, audiovisual material, and links to other types of electronic resources.

Some search tips:
    * Enter your keywords in the search boxes - the more keywords you enter, the fewer results you will find.
    * Check your spelling!
    * Once you find a book, use the index (at the back) to find the information you really need.
    * When you find a possibly relevant book in the catalog, see if there's a link, near the bottom of the page to "About This Book" information.  That takes you to Google Books, where you may be able to see the pages and do word searches within the full text of the volume.

Finding E-Books

To search the library's collection of e-books, use the eBooks on EBSCO interface.

Remember that you will have to log in if using eBooks on EBSCO from off-campus.

You can click on the titles of the books and read them online! In order to download an eBook, you must have a myEBSCO account.  Click here to create one.
