April 2023: The Athletic - sports news resource

The library now offers campus-wide access to The Athletic, a subscription-based sports news site from The New York Times that provides in-depth coverage, analysis, and commentary on various sports and teams, with a focus on quality journalism and original reporting.

March 2023: New Database Added to HeinOnline Library

HeinOnline has added Military Legal Resources (U.S. Army JAG School) to the library's subscription at no additional cost. Learn more here.

1/24/23: The Artstor website will be retired on Aug 1, 2024

JSTOR announces Artstor to JSTOR Migration Timeline: 

  • On February 6, 2023, JSTOR will make an email announcement about the Artstor website retirement directly to faculty users at Artstor institutions.
  • On April 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm EDT, JSTOR will host an Artstor User Group webinar dedicated to providing migration details and answering your questions. Save the date and register now
  • On August 1, 2024, the Artstor website will be retired and all users will be redirected to JSTOR. 

12/13/22: Free New Web Annotation and Highlighting Tool - Hypothesis

Hypothesis is a new tool that enables people to annotate and share documents and webpages. Its free browser extension is in use by a million people globally. It's an open community project. Learn more.

12/1/2022 JSTOR supports Google CASA authentication

JSTOR has partnered with Google to support streamlined access for patrons that use both JSTOR and Google Scholar, through a free service called Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA). When a researcher visits Google Scholar while logged into the KU network, Google CASA remembers their affiliation and that they should have access to KU’s licensed resources. This information is stored in a secure token that is valid for 30 days.

11/2/22: ArtStor integrated into JSTOR

JSTOR has transitioned all ArtStor content to the JSTOR platform. The idea is to have one universal platform to host all content managed by ITHAKA, the non-profit organization that produces both ArtStor and JSTOR as well as other digital assets. The ArtStor platform will eventually be retired. Here's the new link to search only ArtStor on JSTOR: https://www.jstor.org/site/artstor/.

9/8/22: New Library Databases 2022-23

9/8/22: The Washington Post now supports user accounts

The Washington Post now supports user accounts. Patrons can now access the WP without having to go through library authentication after they create an account just like NYT and WSJ. I created a new library guide for The Post that highlights what is available: https://library.kutztown.edu/washingtonpost

I have also updated the newspaper libguide, it's a convenient page to share with patrons to help them access all our newspaper resources: https://library.kutztown.edu/newspapers

9/8/22: WorldCat has been completely rebuilt and redesigned

OCLC has completed redesigned WorldCat to make it more mobile-friendly. Users will need to create an account and then choose KU as a favorite library to be able to limit to local content. The librarians recommend using KU's WorldCat discovery database, it defaults to KU without  having to create an account. https://kutztown.on.worldcat.org/discovery
