ENGL/PRWR 223 - Games and Literature

Research guide for Dr. Leonard's class on library resources for the final project for the course

Ebooks and Gaming Literature

To access Ebooks, use the tab in the Search box at the top of the library homepage titled Books, Ebooks and Media.

The leads to the Library Catalog, which is the index for all the books in the library and all the licensed ebooks available to KU students.

When using the Books, Ebooks and Media interface, remember:

  • to sign in -- only people with KU credentials can open Ebooks,

  • the interface will not correct spelling errors, so if you get "no results" check your spelling,

  • if you have technical difficulties use CHAT -- leave a message if no one is available.

This interface relies heavily on a controlled vocabulary scheme, so it is very dependent on using the right vocabulary for a subject.  Examples of subject terms you might consider:

  • Video games

  • Video game Industry

  • Transmedia storytelling

  • Critical game studies

  • [Name] fictional character  - for example Spiderman (fictional character)

  • [Name] frnachies - for example, Resident Evil franchise

When you find a title that works, look for the Subjects that were assigned to it.
