Workshops:

Database Integrity (part I) – Bob Flatley and Ruth Perkins will discuss the processes vendors, such as Web of Science and SCOPUS, use in their efforts to keep questionable journals and publishers out of their databases.

Database Integrity (part II) – Bob Flatley and Ruth Perkins will conduct a ‘hands on’ workshop providing faculty with tools to evaluate the legitimacy of particular journals and identify potential journals where they could publish their research.

Creative Commons and Quality Scholarship – Susan Czerny will discuss how Creative Commons both differs from and compliments current copyright protocols and how to find quality research with Creative Commons licenses in open access journals.

Open Education Resources (OER) – Ruth Perkins will discuss OER, the emerging resource consisting of openly licensed educational materials that can be used as an alternative to textbooks.  Particular attention will be paid to Temple University’s Alternative Textbook Project.
