CDE 141 Illustrations in Children's Literature: Woodcut/Linoleum Cut

To accompany the CDE 141 class

Woodcut Illustration

Woodcut illustrations are often not the exclusive or first choice for illustrators so here is a list of books that have used woodcut or linoleum in their illustrations.

Ironically, woodcut is often used for illustrations that relate to wooded areas or nature in forests.  This style also is commonly used for books on rural life, especially in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries in western cultures.
