Alpha Beta Alpha: ABA in the Kutztown Community

This guide describes the history, events, news, and contact information for Kutztown University's Alpha Beta Alpha Library Science Fraternity

ABA in the University Community

ABA does quite a bit in the KU community. Every semester we have some sort of fundraiser that benefits KU students, as well as the fraternity. During the 2022-2023 academic year, ABA had tables at events across campus. These included a table at the Kindness Karnival, which included bookmark making and a raffle, and a bake sale held in the library. We are also having events such as karaoke, book exchanges, and other fun activities for club members!

ABA also has an induction ceremony for new members, usually in the Fall and a banquet, usually in April, where past and present members of the fraternity and members of the library come together. At banquets, a guest speaker (someone from the library of literary field) comes and gives a speech for the assembled guests.

Every October, around Halloween, the borough of Kutztown has a Merchant Trick-or-Treat, where local businesses and KU organizations come out to Main Street with goodies and games for the local children. It is one of the borough's highlights every year. ABA always makes sure to have a table rented and tons of candy to go around (as well as a fun game to play) for this big event. Merchant Trick-or-Treat is the best way for ABA to spread the word about our organization, and to, more importantly, help others develop, or further develop, a passion for books.
